Last Updated: October 17, 2026
Blacksight is committed to providing clear information regarding the safe use and regulatory status of the FireNest™ portable alcohol camping stove.
This page provides general product-safety and regulatory information for FireNest™ products offered for sale in the United States. Nothing on this page should be interpreted as representing approval, endorsement, or certification by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission or any other government agency.
Product Description
FireNest™ is a compact portable alcohol-fuel camping stove designed to support cookware for heating food or boiling water.
The FireNest™:
- Uses an alcohol-based liquid fuel
- Is designed as a portable cooking burner
- Is intended for use with cookware
- Has a fuel reservoir capacity of less than 100 mL
- Is a general-use consumer product and is not intended for use by children
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Law
FireNest™ is a consumer product subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSA).
Under Section 15 of the CPSA, manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers may have reporting obligations when information reasonably supports the conclusion that a consumer product contains a defect that could create a substantial product hazard, creates an unreasonable risk of serious injury or death, or fails to comply with an applicable consumer-product safety rule, standard, regulation, or ban.
Blacksight encourages customers to discontinue use and contact us if a product appears damaged, leaks fuel, produces uncontrolled flames, or otherwise operates abnormally.
ASTM F3363-25 Scope
ASTM F3363-25 is the Standard Specification for Unvented Liquid/Gel Fuel-Burning Portable Devices.
The standard excludes camping-stove burners with a fuel volume below 200 mL that are intended for use with cookware.
FireNest™ is designed as a cookware burner and has a fuel capacity below 100 mL. Accordingly, a FireNest™ meeting these characteristics falls within the camping-stove category identified as outside the scope of ASTM F3363-25.
This exclusion does not constitute ASTM certification, CPSC approval, or an exemption from applicable federal, state, or local consumer-product safety requirements.
Blacksight does not represent FireNest™ as “ASTM F3363 certified” or “ASTM F3363 compliant.”
Outdoor Use and Carbon Monoxide
FireNest™ is a portable fuel-burning camping appliance.
USE OUTDOORS ONLY IN AN OPEN, WELL-VENTILATED AREA.
Do not operate Blacksight FireNest™ inside:
- Homes or apartments with no outdoor ventilation
- Garages
- Vehicles
- Tents
- Enclosed porches
- Sheds
- Bedrooms
- Other enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces
Portable fuel-burning equipment can produce carbon monoxide and other combustion by-products.
Blacksight does not currently represent FireNest™ as having been tested or certified for operation inside an enclosed space.
Opening a window or door does not by itself establish that an enclosed space is safe for operation.
Blacksight FireNest™ must not be used as a room heater or space-heating appliance.
Fuel Safety
Alcohol fuels are highly flammable and can produce flames that may be difficult to see, particularly in bright conditions.
Never:
- Refill the burner while it is operating
- Refill a hot burner
- Pour fuel toward an open flame
- Overfill the fuel reservoir
- Move the burner while it is burning
- Leave the burner unattended
- Use gasoline, propane, butane, kerosene, or another fuel for which the burner was not designed
Before adding additional fuel:
1. Completely extinguish the burner.
2. Allow the burner to cool completely.
3. Verify that no flame remains.
4. Only then add additional fuel.
Never pour alcohol fuel into or toward a burner that may still be burning.
Keep alcohol fuel securely closed and away from flames, sparks, heat sources, children, and pets.
Flame Visibility
Alcohol flames can be faint or difficult to see.
Never assume that the burner is extinguished simply because a visible flame cannot be seen.
Always follow the proper extinguishing procedure and allow the burner to cool completely before handling, refueling, transporting, or storing it.
Fuel Bottle Safety
Any separate container used to store, transport, or dispense alcohol fuel must comply with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
Certain portable fuel containers intended for fuels such as ethanol, methanol, or denatured alcohol may be subject to federal flame-mitigation requirements.
Customers should only use appropriate fuel containers designed for the storage and dispensing of the fuel being used.
Never store alcohol fuel in beverage bottles, food containers, or other containers that could be mistaken for something intended for consumption.
Children and Pets
FireNest™ is not a children's product.
Children must not:
- Light the burner
- Refuel the burner
- Move the burner
- Extinguish the burner
- Handle alcohol fuel
Keep FireNest™, alcohol fuel, matches, lighters, hot cookware, and related accessories out of the reach of children and pets.
Burner components can remain hot after the visible flame has disappeared.
Safe Operating Area
Place FireNest™ on a stable, level, non-combustible, heat-resistant surface.
Keep the burner away from combustible materials including:
- Curtains
- Paper
- Cardboard
- Tablecloths
- Plastics
- Dry vegetation
- Fuel containers
- Other flammable materials
Do not operate the burner beneath low shelves, cabinets, overhangs, tree branches, or other combustible structures.
Make sure the pot stand is properly assembled and stable before placing cookware over the burner.
Do not use cookware that causes the burner or stand to become unstable.
Product Inspection
Inspect FireNest™ before every use.
Do not operate the product if:
- Fuel is leaking
- The burner body is damaged
- Components are loose
- The burner is unstable
- The stand does not securely support cookware

Stop using the product immediately if an unsafe condition develops.
Contact Blacksight customer support before using a damaged or malfunctioning product again.
Fire Safety
Never leave FireNest™ unattended while burning.
Do not move, carry, tilt, or reposition the burner while it is operating or while it remains hot.
Keep unused fuel away from the operating burner.
If fuel spills outside the burner, do not ignite the stove.
Remove ignition sources and allow the spilled fuel and vapors to safely dissipate or be cleaned in accordance with the fuel manufacturer's instructions.
If a fire spreads beyond the burner, move people away from the area and contact emergency services where appropriate.
Do not attempt to carry a burning stove.
